The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office identified the suspect as Daniel Williams, who was being sought in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier in the afternoon. Authorities announced Williams' capture shortly after 6 p.m., bringing relief to the community.
The shooting unfolded around 2 p.m. at a home on Johnson Drive, according to local police and a statement from Allentown Mayor Thomas Fritts. The victim sustained injuries but is expected to make a full recovery, Fritts said.
“The shooter is believed to be a Caucasian male in his mid-50s, with long hair, possibly in a ponytail, and a scruffy beard,” Fritts added during the manhunt.
A shelter-in-place order was issued at approximately 2 p.m., sending residents into lockdown as authorities combed the area. The order was lifted two hours later, though details about the circumstances of the shooting and Williams' capture remain under investigation.
Further information was not immediately available at press time, but officials commended the swift action of local, county, and state law enforcement in resolving the incident.
